MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE
Students in the medical laboratory science major will:
- Apply principles and practices of professional conduct.
- Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.
- Respect institutional dress code/personal appearance guidelines.
- Arrive to and leave from clinical/employment site at scheduled times.
- Employ communication skills (oral, written, electronic) sufficient to serve the needs of instructors, peers, other healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.
- Practice safety in all situations through knowledge of and adherence to Standard Precautions and related policies and procedures.
- Comply with the federal laws (HIPAA) and institutional policies protecting patient confidentiality.
- Evaluate a specimen as acceptable for clinical analysis.
- Analyze and interpret results of quality control materials.
- State reference ranges for applicable laboratory tests.
- Identify abnormal and critical test results .
- Correlate patient test results to states of health and disease.
- Competently operate automated laboratory instruments including those in:
- Blood Bank
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Hemostasis
- Immunology
- Microbiology
- Urinalysis

NURSING
Students in the nursing major will:
- Integrate a personal philosophy for nursing practice, based on the dignity, worth and individuality of all human beings.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for evaluating one鈥檚 professional practice in relationship to accepted standards of nursing practice.
- Synthesize theoretical principles applicable to professional nursing practice.
- Utilize the nursing process to promote, restore and maintain adaptation in individuals, families, groups and communities throughout the life cycle.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for providing competent and comprehensive health care.
- Collaborate and negotiate with patients/clients, the interdisciplinary health care team, and the public to ensure the optimal health and welfare of patients/clients.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Upon successful completion of the program, Strength & Conditioning graduates will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of exercise physiology
- Apply knowledge of psychological foundations of physical performance
- Apply knowledge of nutritional factors as they apply to physical performance
- Engage effective organizational and administrative professional practices
- Teach and evaluate strength and conditioning exercise technique
- Conduct needs analysis and construct program design
- Select, administer, evaluate and interpret testing for reliability and validity

NEUROSCIENCE
Students in the neuroscience major will:
- Illustrate critical thinking skills and apply these skills when both conducting and evaluating research within the field.
- Understand how neural mechanisms impact behavior and evidence the interdisciplinary nature of neuroscience in their work.
- Apply the ethical practice of scientific inquiry within the field of neuroscience through conducting, analyzing, and evaluating such research.
- Use effective communication skills within the discourse of the discipline.
- Demonstrate preparation for entry into the workplace or advanced study.
