Well known military prosecutor, Colonel Michael Mulligan will serve as the keynote speaker at ONU Law鈥檚 annual Goldman Lecture on March 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Tilton Hall, Room 129.
Col. Mulligan led the 2005听court-martial听of听Hasan Akbar, a soldier ultimately convicted of murdering two of his fellow soldiers at the beginning of the听2003 invasion of Iraq. He was also appointed lead prosecutor in the court-martial of听Nidal Malik Hasan in the November听2009 Fort Hood shooting that left 13 people dead and more than 30 wounded.
A general court-martial is the military's highest-level trial court. This court tries service members for the most serious crimes.
In the Army, Mulligan was stationed in Germany, where he worked as a deputy and staff judge advocate. After returning to the United States, he served as head of the Criminal Law Division at听Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
